What a rainy winter we have had. Not that it has stopped us here at Blackfaulds Livery, Alloa. The incredible and endless mileage of off road tracks keeps the hacking varied and interesting in all weathers. We can boast some of the best tracks for miles around just by hacking directly from the yard. No need to use a trailer to get there!

Our newly surfaced arena has stood up superbly with the wet weather. We invested heavily in drainage to ensure it was all weather and this has paid off as its a fantastic facility to have for flatwork, lunging, jumping etc. Lots of lessons from instructors with insurance has kept our minds focused during the winter months and pay off when the spring comes round.

We have been doing some training as we are a British Horse Society approved yard. Getting updated in any legislation changes means we are ahead of the curve and being approved means equine welfare and health and safety are paramount to the success of running a yard.  Adherence to the guidance which feeds into larger organisations is vital. It is a huge thought to think of how many yards out there can set up without any form of approval in this day and age.

Our horses have enjoyed all year turn out and this is essential for keeping them stimulated even if its been a tad muddy this year! Now all’s to do is to make the most of the longer days ahead as we come out from winter. Whether its time for hacking or competing, its certainly time to have fun within our equine community.
